TSWS Online Courses & Guided Tasting Sessions

Learn wine the way professionals do, at your own pace and guided by a qualified educator from TSWS Wine. Our courses take learners from a complete beginner foundation through to detailed study of white and red grape varieties, so you can start wherever you are and build from there. Every course can be taken on its own, or paired with a live, instructor-led tasting session on Zoom for hands-on practice.

Zero to Hero: Wine for Beginners

Are you new to wine, or tired of nodding along without really knowing what is in the glass? Our Zero to Hero course builds a clear, practical foundation from the ground up. It covers what wine is, how climate and grape variety shape flavour, and how to talk about wine with confidence. It is structured like professional wine education but written to be easily accessible, with quizzes throughout and a 75-question final exam. No prior knowledge needed.

Also available with a 2-hour live guided tasting experience with a professional instructor over Zoom.

Understanding White Wine: Grapes, Styles & Regions

Ready to go deeper on whites? This course will take you through 28 white grape varieties, from Chardonnay and Riesling to Assyrtiko, Furmint, and Torrontés, and shows how climate, winemaking, and ageing all work together to create different flavours. You will learn to compare grapes and regions like a professional, and to understand why a wine tastes the way it does, not just what it tastes like. This course is ideal for keen enthusiasts and WSET Level 2 or 3 students. It includes an 80-question final exam.

You will gain the kind of structured knowledge that holds up in hospitality, in WSET study, or at the table. Includes an 80-question final exam.

Food & Wine Pairing: Matching Food and Wine with Confidence

Want to stop guessing at the table and start pairing food with wine on purpose? A great match can lift both the food and the wine, and this course shows you how to build those pairings yourself rather than memorising a list of rules. You will learn why certain combinations work and others don’t, how the core components of food (salt, acid, sweetness, bitterness, fat, umami, spice, and heat) react with a wine’s acidity, tannin, sweetness, alcohol, and body, and how to use complementary, contrasting, and regional pairing strategies with confidence. This course is built for anyone in hospitality, studying wine professionally, or simply enjoying food and wine at home, and it covers the common mistakes that trip people up along the way. No prior knowledge needed.
